Join us as Narvik Museum opens its doors for the most exciting week of the year, Winter Festival at Narvik Museum 2025, from March 14th to 23rd. Throughout the Narvik Winter Festival, the museum will be filled with art, history, and activities celebrating both the city’s rich cultural heritage and new creative expressions.

About the Narvik Winter Festival

The Narvik Winter Festival, known in Norwegian as Vinterfestuka, is an annual cultural festival in Narvik that celebrates the city’s railway history and heritage. Established in 1956, the festival is based on stories, myths, and facts from the construction era of the railway between Narvik and Kiruna around 1900. Important symbols of the festival include the railway workers (rallars) and Svarta Bjørn. With around 200 events, the festival attracts approximately 30,000 visitors each year, making it one of the most significant cultural events in Northern Norway.

This Year’s VU Artist: Li Taiga!
We are proud to announce that Li Taiga is this year’s VU artist for the Narvik Winter Festival 2025! Her exhibition opens at Narvik Museum on March 14th and promises an extraordinary experience.

Li Taiga is a Finnish-Swedish visual artist and cultural worker known for her interdisciplinary projects and conceptual ideas. Through a broad range of techniques—including installation, sculpture, film, sound, and drawing—she delves into profound questions about human existence and our connection to nature. Her work is deeply rooted in sustainable and dialogical processes, challenging us to reflect on how we relate to the world around us.

This collaboration between Narvik Museum and the Narvik Winter Festival continues a tradition of highlighting artists from the Nordic Arctic region, a practice that has been upheld since 1996. Look forward to an exhibition that will inspire, challenge, and captivate!
