Workshop with Vestvågøy Husflidslag

It will be an exciting day at the museum! In collaboration with Vestvågøy Husflidslag, there will be a needle binding workshop and a mending workshop in the Visitor Centre of Lofotr Viking Museum.

Needle binding workshop:

Would you like to learn how to make socks, mittens, and hats like they did in the Viking Age? Then this is the course for you!

Needle binding is an ancient handicraft technique where you use a needle and often your thumb as tools. Kim Elaine Holte, who works at Husfliden in Leknes, will lead the course and teach you this technique. Needle binding was, and still is, used in many parts of the world.

Mending Workshop:

Do you have old wool garments that have become worn or developed holes? Bring them to the mending workshop hosted by Vestvågøy Husflidslag and learn how to repair your clothes.

NB: There is no limited number of spots at the mending workshop!
