MS Finnmarken’s fabric sample book

At the Hurtigruten Museum at Stokmarknes, as you may know, we have an entire Hurtigruten ship standing inside the museum! The ship was launched in 1956 and was built in Hamburg. She sailed first for Vesteraalen Dampskibsselskab, then later for Ofoten and Vesteraalens Dampskibsselskab.

In connection with the construction, interior architect Wenche Nyquist Kraugerud was hired to furnish the ship. In connection with her work, she made a binder with fabric samples of all textiles and wallpaper used on board.

Using this binder, the Norwegian Hurtigruten Museum Foundation has been able to return to the original patterns and colours in their tireless work to restore the ship to the way it now appears in glass and frame at Stokmarknes.

The binder is a small treasure in the collection, with great value for the Hurtigruten Museum and the Hurtigruten ship MS Finnmarken.
