Here you can take a break from exploring and enjoy food and drink made with ingredients that the Vikings knew. Served in modern and tasty varieties. Whether you want a simple meal, homemade bread or cakes, ice cream or a refreshing drink, there are options that suits you.
The Museum Café
In the Museum Café in the Visitor Center, we serve both hot and cold dishes. As well as Homemade bread and cakes made with locally sourced ingredients. The café is open to everyone and follows the museum’s opening hours, so you don’t need a ticket to stop by. Here you can also enjoy cold and hot drinks, waffles and ice cream. Perfect for a little break in your visit.
Skjeltersjåen café
At the Viking Ship Harbour you will find Skjeltersjåen café, open from June 15th to August 15th. Here you can enjoy homemade soups, pancakes and other simple dishes, all inspired by Viking Age ingredients. The café also has ice cream and drinks. And offers pleasant outdoor dining at the activity area – Perfect for summer days.
Summer serving of lamb soup and mead
From June 15th to August 15th, you can enjoy the summer atmosphere with lamb soup cooked over an open fire. And mead, “the drink of the gods”, which gives a taste of the Viking Age. You can buy soup and mead from the vikings in the Chieftain’s House.
Practical information
The museum café follows the museum’s opening hours and is open year-round. Skjelterskjåen Café and the summer serving of lamb soup are only available during the summer season and close one hour before the museum.
