The excavators

Are there any future archaeologist out there? Join the excavators, a fun and educational archaeological activity at Øksnes Museum this summer!

We carry out the popular activity “The Excavators”! Kids get to play archaeologists and dig up real animal bones. Some are tiny, others are huge! What animals do they belong to?

In “The Excavators”, children get to explore and learn about animals, nature and archaeology in a down-to-earth and fun way. We at the museum are on hand to help and share our knowledge throughout the activity.

The program was developed by an archaeologist at Sortland Museum and has previously been arranged for children in Sortland and 1st-2nd grade in Øksnes with great success. The recommended age is 5-12 years, duration approx. 30-45 min. Price is included in the entrance fee.

“The Excavators” is arranged every day during opening hours as far as we have the capacity to do so. To be absolutely sure that you will be able to attend the activity on the day you visit the museum, please let us know your desired time and date in advance by phone or e-mail.

The museum is open 28.6 – 7.8, Tuesday-Sunday from 11-16.
