Do you want to learn more about the coastal express between Bergen and Kirkenes? In our permanent exhibition at the Hurtigruten Museum, you can explore the history of the coastal express from its humble beginnings in the late 1800s until today.
The exhibition is organized thematically, so if there is something you are extra interested in, we are sure to have something that will suit you.
Maybe you are fascinated by the technical development? Or maybe World War II and the war time sailors are something you are passionate about? In our permanent exhibition on the floor around the venerable MS Finnmarken from 1956, you will find exactly what you are looking for.

Will you try to cast off? Or learn different sailor knots? In our exhibition you get to try it out. Maybe you can find the sea marks outside the window with the binoculars from our lookout?
When you have walked the whole round around the ship, you can either take a little rest on one of our benches and watch clips from the NRK initiative “Hurtigruta – minute by minute”, or you can wander further into the side room on the ground floor where you are presented with the start-up history of the coastal express, and maybe you’ll even meet it’s founder, Richard With?
On the upper floor you will find two more themed stations. Here you can learn about both the “Risøyrenna” (a specific and difficult part of the sailing route), when the coastal express first came to Stokmarknes, and our exhibition about the incredible volunteer effort behind the establishment of our museum. How did the boat come ashore? How did it end up inside the building, and who is behind it all?
