The Otolith is the first meeting in SKREI and is located between the Lofoten Museum, Galleri Espolin and the Lofoten Aquarium.
In the Otolith you will find a new, large exhibition, and temporary exhibitions. The main exhibition is called “With the sea”.
You will sense the world of fish as you step into the exhibition. Go with the flow and join; gradually up to the sphere of human activity. Learn about the ocean, resource management and value creation, about sustainability, culture and traditions, ecology, economics and a vital industry.
Values, culture and life
The exhibition is about the annual Lofoten fishery and the values it has created over the millennia. It is the world’s largest seasonal cod fishery, the export value is enormous and the value creation is invaluable.
The exhibition is suitable for most age groups and nationalities. In addition to the exhibition, you can see live fish in the Lofoten Aquarium, experience traditional buildings in the historic Lofoten Museum and let yourself be touched by art that deals with our world in Espolin Gallery.
