SUMMER EMPLOYEES AT ØKSNES MUSEUM
We are looking for summer employees to Øksnes Museum and Alsvåggården who can work from around 15 June to 8 August. The position involves being a tour guide, host, and taking care of other tasks at the museum. Are you interested in history and like working with people? Then this could be the summer job for you!
About the museum
Øksnes Museum is located in Alsvåg, about 10 minutes drive from Myre and 40 minutes from Sortland.
This year we exhibit “Vår Kamp”, which was first shown at Sortland Museum. Through computer games, films, objects, pictures and text, the exhibition tells about working life and the labour movement in Vesterålen.
In addition, the museum consists of Alsvåggården, with the main house, the storehouse and krambua from the 19th century, which tells a more than 450-year history.
As a summer employee, you will
– Give tours in Alsvåggården and in the exhibition “Vår Kamp”
– Operate checkout
– Host, so make sure to give your visitors a pleasant welcome and good info
– Do otherwise decaying museum work both inside and outside (for example, gardening)
We are looking for nice employees who like to work with people and who can work independently. The applicant must be over the age of 16, preferably over 18, and speak Norwegian and English. It is a plus if you are interested in history and/or a local in Øksnes, but it is not a requirement. We plan to hire two summer employees, in addition a permanent employee will be at the museum for much of the season.
Opening hours: The museum is open from 27.06. to 07.08., Tuesday–Sunday 11:00–16:00.
