Neptun Herring Oil Factory
Neptun Herring Oil Factory is a technical-industrial cultural monument located on the small Svinøya on the south side of Hadseløya. The factory is an example of the industrial fishing industry from the latter part of the 19th century until the 20th century.
Neptun Herring Oil Factory was established in 1910 by the “king of Melbo” Christian
Frederiksen and was with various owners in operation until 1987. At the beginning of 1990-
the factory was used as a museum.
Today, re-use characterizes the operation of the closed industrial premises. Here you will find, among other things, a popular restaurant with short-distance food, a blues club, and a spectacular concert hall in one of the old raw material tanks.
