Dear friends of the Ofoten Railway,
We are thrilled to invite you to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the electrification of the Ofoten Railway! In 1923, a bold step was taken towards a more sustainable future when the Ofoten Railway was electrified. This revolutionary change contributed to a more efficient transport of ores from the mines.
We will commence the anniversary celebration with an exciting train journey from Narvik Station to Katterat, where the main event will take place. Join us on board the train and enjoy the majestic views along the Ofoten Railway as we approach our destination.
Upon arrival at Katterat, you will be welcomed into an atmosphere filled with history and culture. Here, you will experience everything from opening speeches to guided tours of the transformer station and the Hundalen model, musical performances, dance shows, and much more. All of this in the heart of the surroundings that have witnessed the development of the Ofoten Railway over the years.
After a memorable day at Katterat, the train will take us back to Narvik Station.

📍 Location: Narvik Station / Katterat Station
💰 Price: The event is free of charge.
🎫 Registration: Click here to go to the ticket page. The event is free, but due to limited ticket availability, reservations are required. The order confirmation serves as a ticket and can be presented digitally or in print.
🚆 4:00 PM – Departure from Narvik Station with the Arctic Train: Hop on board the train that will take you on a historic journey along the Ofoten Railway, just as it was done 100 years ago. The train departs at 4:00 PM, so please arrive well in advance.
🚆 8:25 PM – Return to Narvik from Katterat: The train will safely take you back to Narvik Station. Estimated arrival at Narvik Station is around 9:00 PM.

🎙️ Opening speech by Thor Brækkan: Listen to a historical talk by Thor Brækkan, sharing insights into the significance of electrification.
🍔 Food service: There will be food service organized by the anniversary committee.
🎪 Games with the Rallar Club: Join in on nostalgic games and activities prepared by the Rallar Club for all ages.
🚉 Transformer station tour with a guide: Take part in an exciting tour of the transformer station with a guide who will provide insights into the technological aspects.
🗺️ Guided tour of “Hundalen”: Follow along on a guided tour where you can explore the model depicting how Hundalen looked in the old days.
🎵 Music with Ensemble Oscar: Let yourself be swept away by beautiful melodies performed by Ensemble Oscar.
💃 Dance with Cultural School Students: Experience the “Work It Out” dance by talented students from the cultural school.
🎭 Theatrical performance: Get a taste of theater magic through the Rallar performance by our local theater group.
Accessibility: Arctic Train offers adapted trains with a wheelchair ramp and universally designed toilet facilities.
Please note that unfortunately, there are no accessible toilet facilities for people with disabilities at Katterat Station during the event. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Efforts are being made to ensure that the transformer station and the Hundalen model are also accessible for visitors using wheelchairs or walkers.
