The farm consists of a farmhouse, barn, dock and boathouse. The buildings are open to visitors and a skilled guide is available. Learn about fishermen and farmers who lived between the sea and a somewhat barren soil around 1900–1940.
The service house is located by the large parking lot (drive through the tunnel on arrival at Å). In summer, you can buy a museum ticket here and get information about the museum and bakery. You can also buy various gifts and souvenirs (clothes, books, postcards, etc.) in the fine store.
In the building you will find public toilets, which are open all year round.

On 3–7 August 2022, the annual Viking Festival is finally held at the Lofotr Viking Museum again. This year’s theme is trade and cultural exchange, and there are Vikings from many countries coming to Borg in Lofoten.

On 15 and 16 March, the Nordland Seminar 2023 took place in Hamarøy. This year’s organizers were Nordlandsmuseet in collaboration with Árran – Julevsáme guovdásj / Lule Sami Center. The seminar was divided in two, with the first day at Árran on Drag, and day two at the Hamsun Centre at Presteid.

Eddie was born somewhere on Sotra outside Bergen, most likely in late summer 2022.
She was found after her mother was hit and taken home to a family in Sotra. She stayed there for several months before taking the long flight up to us at the Lofoten Aquarium at the end of January 2023.

In March, several school classes visited Vågan Museum Nord’s museums in Kabelvåg. Focusing on the cod, we carried out joint arrangements at Galleri Espolin, the Lofoten Museum and the Lofoten Aquarium, for The Cultural Schoolbag (DKS) in Vågan municipality: “The Lofoten Adventure – SKREI”

Throughout the month of June, the Norwegian Coastal Administration Museum has carried out this year’s summer cruise with the museum ship MS Gamle Oksøy. The cruise has sailed along almost the entire Norwegian coast from Kristiansand to Gamvik, and back to Kristiansand, where Gamle Oksøy has its home port.

There are many tasks to be solved before SKREI can open in 2026. Among these is landscape planning – i.e. what the landscape around SKREI and now especially the Otolith should look like. What can we preserve of trees, rocks and landscape formations? Landscape architects and sample excavation are important tools.
