Norwegian Fishing Village Museum

One of Norway’s best preserved and complete fishing villages. Visit various buildings; including boathouse, cod liver oil factory, husmansstua. Main theme: life in the fishing village 1840–1960 and the development of the Lofoten fishery over the past 250 years. Shop and summer café.

LIAF 2022 – Fantasmagoriana

Art exhibition September 3.–October 2. The Espolin Gallery is one of several exhibition venues during this year’s art biennial LIAF – Lofoten International Art Festival. LIAF 2022 is curated by the duo Francesco Urbano Ragazzi and titled Fantasmagoriana.

Agreement on SKREI centre signed

Museum Nord and LPO Arkitekter have entered into an agreement for the design of the SKREI centre outside Kabelvåg in Lofoten. Thus, the work on the national centre for cod fishing is a big step closer to the planned opening in 2026.

New exhibition opens at the Espolin Gallery

Exhibition “From Shadows to Beacons” at Gallery Espolin. Nine artists are showing exciting works inspired by the 200th anniversary of invention of the Fresnel’s lighthouse lens in 2023. The exhibition is arranged by the Museums of Norwegian Coastal Administration (Kystverkmusea) and produced by the North Cape Museum.
