Playful children, the Monument of Freedom, the 4th Corner

“Playful Children” is cast in bronze and made by Thorsen who participated with the sculpture at the Autumn Exhibition in 1963. Narvik municipality bought the sculpture in 1963, and it was placed in Byparken in 1965 pending the final design of the Peat Area.

Cozy pier evening at Korsnes Museum

On Thursday 29 June, a cozy pier evening was arranged at Korsnes Museum in Ofoten. The reason was that the former merchant boat Peer Gynt and its crew have travelled up the coast from their home port in Bergen all the way up to Korsnes.

Well blown Winter Party at the Museum

After two years of cancellations, Winter Festival Week in Narvik was finally held. 160 schoolchildren were given a tour of the museum, and VU artist Lotta Lampa was one of several drawcards!

On 15 and 16 March, the Nordland Seminar 2023 took place in Hamarøy. This year’s organizers were Nordlandsmuseet in collaboration with Árran – Julevsáme guovdásj / Lule Sami Center. The seminar was divided in two, with the first day at Árran on Drag, and day two at the Hamsun Centre at Presteid.

Traveling exhibition in Narvik – Opening ceremony

The war sailors // a traveling exhibition is in Narvik. The exhibition will be at Rådhusplassen in Narvik until Sunday 21 August. From 21 August until Sunday 28 August it stands outside Narvik Museum.
Extended opening hours at Narvik Museum Monday 22nd to Friday 26th August. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Art workshop for children

Monday and Tuesday this week, Narvik Museum has held an art workshop for children in collaboration with artist Bjørg-Elise Tuppen. Two classes from Narvik Montesorri School have been able to visit Bjørg-Elise’s art exhibition that is currently on display at the museum, learn a little about the techniques the artist himself uses, and then try out the technique themselves.

Joint meeting of the museums in Nordland

From 21 to 22 September, Helgeland Museum, Nordland Museum and Museum Nord gathered for the annual joint meeting of the museums in Nordland. New this year is that the Árran Julevsáme guovdásj/Lule Sami Center, the Norwegian Aviation Museum and the Narvik Centre also participated.
