Tales of guidance and warning
We gather around the fire on a dark evening. There we tell tales about ghosts and ghosts. Someone who was saved from storm and accident.
This is a tale from Ballangen in Ofoten
Heggdalen is a valley in Ballangen known for supposedly being haunted.
Two girls went walking from Balsnes to Bø for a wedding. Dusk was falling as they reached Heggdalen, and one of them said to the other: “If there are any ghosts here, we will surely notice.” All of a sudden, they heard a voice cry: “Tell Krylekropp under the table, that fleeing the fire, Bal was unable!”
The girls hurried along and reached the wedding party just as dinner was being served. Speeches, stories, and poems were shared, and the girls joined in with what they had heard in Heggdalen: “Tell Krylekropp under the table, that fleeing the fire, Bal was unable!” Immediately, a strange creature leapt from under the table. “Ohooo! Ohooo! Ohooo!” he screamed, as he made his escape through the door.
