Playful children, the Monument of Freedom, the 4th Corner
“Playful Children” is cast in bronze and made by Thorsen who participated with the sculpture at the Autumn Exhibition in 1963. Narvik municipality bought the sculpture in 1963, and it was placed in Byparken in 1965 pending the final design of the Peat Area.

Nordland Seminar 2023
On 15 and 16 March, the Nordland Seminar 2023 took place in Hamarøy. This year’s organizers were Nordlandsmuseet in collaboration with Árran – Julevsáme guovdásj / Lule Sami Center. The seminar was divided in two, with the first day at Árran on Drag, and day two at the Hamsun Centre at Presteid.
Hurtigruten in the war
During World War II, the Hurtigruten route became a war zone where many Vesterålings were also affected. At the same time, the population along the coast was even more dependent than before on Hurtigruten for freight and necessary travel. As many as fourteen Hurtigruten ships were sunk in the period 1940-45, in addition to three “replacement express routes.

With 119,162 visitors to Lofotr Viking Museum, all visitor records were broken in 2023. The summer season was already very positive, and many tourists came to Borg to visit the museum from all over the world. Although it was expected to exceed the visitor count from 2019, namely 104,614, at the end of the year the number of visitors still far exceeded expectations.

How old is Andenes Actually?
In an attic in Risøyhamn, my father made a sensational discovery in the spring of 2020. Several types of weapons and tools made from stone. The room where they were found had objects from several places, none of which were marked clearly, apart from one ax: “Found in Andenes”.

Fragments of history
For 30 years, Lofotr Viking Museum has had its doors open to convey the story of the chieftain’s seat at Borg. On Saturday, the exhibition fragments; An anniversary exhibition that shows fragments or fragments of our history.
