One of Norway’s best preserved and complete fishing villages. Visit various buildings; including boathouse, cod liver oil factory, husmansstua. Main topic: life in the fishing village 1840–1960 and the development of Lofoten fishing over the past 250 years. Shop and summer café.
Playful children, the Monument of Freedom, the 4th Corner
“Playful Children” is cast in bronze and made by Thorsen who participated with the sculpture at the Autumn Exhibition in 1963. Narvik municipality bought the sculpture in 1963, and it was placed in Byparken in 1965 pending the final design of the Peat Area.

Neptun Herring Oil Factory
A piece of northern Norway’s industrial history. The country’s most modern herring oil factory when it was established in 1910. Cooperation with the occupying forces during World War II and predation on nature is part of Neptun’s exciting history. Protected by the National Heritage Board as a technical-industrial cultural monument.
About Ǫmð and northernmost Hálogaland

Meeting about EvoCave in Kjøpsvik
Get to know the caves in Tysfjord and talk to the researchers in the Project EvoCave who are carrying out the excavation. On 13 September there will be a public meeting at Kjøpsvik Library and Cultural Centre.

Book launch and two talks on World War II in the north
Lecture with Åsa Elstad and Baard H. Borge on the occasion of the launch of the three-volume work on World War II in the north – the first overall presentation of the war in the region.
From quiet farm to a small industrialized city within a few decades (1890–1920). The businessman and landowner Chr. Frederiksen was in the center of the activities. Visit the mansion that has been restored to it´s former glory.
The farm consists of a farmhouse, barn, dock and boathouse. The buildings are open to visitors and a skilled guide is available. Learn about fishermen and farmers who lived between the sea and a somewhat barren soil around 1900–1940.
