Andenes Lighthouse

Andenes lighthouse was completed in 1859 and is one of Norway’s tallest lighthouses. If you visit the lighthouse, it is possible to go all the way up to the top to see the amazing views.

One of Norway’s best preserved and complete fishing villages. Visit various buildings; including boathouse, cod liver oil factory, husmansstua. Main topic: life in the fishing village 1840–1960 and the development of Lofoten fishing over the past 250 years. Shop and summer café.

The Museums of the Norwegian Coastal Administration is the agency museum of the Norwegian Coastal Administration. Museum Nord represents Region Nordland.

Neptun Herring Oil Factory

A piece of northern Norway’s industrial history. The country’s most modern herring oil factory when it was established in 1910. Cooperation with the occupying forces during World War II and predation on nature is part of Neptun’s exciting history. Protected by the National Heritage Board as a technical-industrial cultural monument.

Seabed Exhibition

Seabed talks about the importance of the sea in the north, the vulnerable ecosystem in the ocean and the consequences of marine litter and pollution that are the subject of the exhibition.

New exhibition about the world’s largest cold-water coral reef

For many, corals are associated with South Sea islands and palm trees. But there are also coral reefs along the coast of Norway. This is what the audience learns in the new exhibition of the Lofoten Aquarium.

SKREI Research Center (SRC)

SKREI Research Center (SRC) is a three-year project to create an infrastructure that coordinates international, interdisciplinary research and knowledge on topics related to Arctic cod.

Hurtigruten in the war

During World War II, the Hurtigruten route became a war zone where many Vesterålings were also affected. At the same time, the population along the coast was even more dependent than before on Hurtigruten for freight and necessary travel. As many as fourteen Hurtigruten ships were sunk in the period 1940-45, in addition to three “replacement express routes.

Landscape architects and basic tests of the ground

There are many tasks to be solved before SKREI can open in 2026. Among these is landscape planning – i.e. what the landscape around SKREI and now especially the Otolith should look like. What can we preserve of trees, rocks and landscape formations? Landscape architects and sample excavation are important tools.

Materials for reuse from former våganheimen

Old Våganheimen will be demolished in connection with the start-up of SKREI. On this occasion, Skrei Eiendom wants to give stakeholders in the local community the opportunity to reuse some of the materials from the buildings that will be demolished.

Hurtigruten Museum

A monument to Norway’s Transport history: Visit the bridge, engine room and cabins on the Finnmarken express route (1956) in its iconic barley. Feel the atmosphere in the lounges from the steamship Finmarken (1912). Activities for children and families. Hurtigruta’s importance is told in modern exhibitions. Food and drinks are served in the dining room anno 1956. Welcome aboard!
