Summer at SKREI – experiences for the whole family at the Lofoten Museum

Summer is a fantastic time to visit SKREI and the Lofoten Museum. Here you can experience living history, exciting activities and beautiful cultural environments that take you back to a time when the fishing villages were the heart of Lofoten. Whether you come alone, with friends or with family, there is something to experience for all ages. 

Living history and activities for everyone 

Throughout the summer, we invite you to guided tours every day at 13:30. Our knowledgeable guides convey stories about life in Lofoten and provide a unique insight into the region’s cultural heritage. The tours are offered in Norwegian and English. 

In the museum area, you can also meet the farm boy or the servant girl. Have a chat, hear stories from everyday life in the old days and take part in educational activities that bring history to life. 

Feel free to take a stroll in the beautiful garden in front of the manor house. Here you can get to know historic perennials and experience a vibrant cultural environment as it could have looked over a hundred years ago. 

Before the visit is over, we recommend a visit to Krambua. Here you will find a selection of gifts, souvenirs and local history products ? The perfect memories of your visit or a gift for someone you love.

SKREI offers activities at the Lofoten Museum that make history exciting and accessible to the youngest: 

• Meet the farm boy or servent girl

SKREI and the Lofoten Museum’s historical buildings and exhibitions provide a fascinating insight into life in Lofoten over several hundred years: 

• The Manor house from 1818 

• Fisherman’s cabins from the 1800s 

• The Nordland Boat Collection in the boathouses 

• Old boat engines in the barn 

• The Storehouse 

Here you can wander between authentic buildings, see unique objects, a variety of traditional boats and learn more about the people who lived and worked along the Lofoten coast.
