This is how the new film at Lofotr is made

In December this year, we will open the doors to a brand new and exciting main exhibition at Lofotr Viking Museum. As a central part of the renewal, a new film is now being produced that will give visitors a unique and vivid insight into the past. This week, during three intense days behind the camera, important scenes for the film were shot at Borg.

A new holistic experience

The filming that was carried out this week was made in collaboration with the Copenhagen design agency No Parking. They are also working on the design of the main exhibition itself. This close collaboration ensures a holistic, accessible and engaging experience, where our research-based knowledge meets modern and inspiring dissemination.

Life in the longhouse

The new film will take the audience close to everyday life in the mighty longhouse at Borg. Here we get to meet an extended family across generations. Where children, adults and the elderly lived and worked under the same roof. It was a life characterized by a strong sense of community, but also by purposeful and hard work.

Borg as a centre of power and trade

Through the new storytelling, we want to show that Borg was not just an ordinary farm, but a wealthy and important center of power. Good trade networks and close contact with communities in both the north and south laid the foundation for the wealth and position of the chieftain at Borg in its time.

We look forward to sharing more of the process in the future, and are very much looking forward to inviting both locals and visitors to a brand new museum experience in December!
